BIO

April Kartikasari is currently a research fellow at RMIT University, Australia, working on immunological and epigenetic mechanisms involved in cancer and diabetes. Prior to that April, lectured on epigenetic subjects at Monash University, Australia. As a postdoctoral fellow at University of California Los Angeles (UCLA), USA, April Kartikasari studied epigenetics in diabetes and stem cell differentiation into beta cells. Before going to USA, she researched at European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL), Germany and Radboud University Nijmegen, The Netherlands, on topics of iron metabolism and the iron hormone hepcidin. She received her PhD in immunology from the Faculty of Medicine, Utrecht University, The Netherlands. She obtained her Bachelor of Science degree with Honours in Biochemistry from the University of Queensland, Australia.
